Sibirstjerne - Aster Sibiricus

Sibirstjerna har en av sine to sikre voksesteder i Vest Europa på Sakrisodden ved Aursundsjøen på Røros.
I 1975 var det bare 4 eksemplarer igjen av planten, og Jorun Sakrisvoll startet det møysommelige arbeidet med å redde planten fra total utrydding. Dette klarte hun, og området er idag en  rikt blomstrende habitat, under oppsyn av grunneier Jorun Sakrisvoll og Miljøvernetaten i Røros kommune.

Sibirstjerna er trolig kommet med frø fra Sibir under istida, og har slått rot på de sandete strendene ved Aursunden. Reguleringen av sjøen har truet voksestedet voldsomt, og nesten utryddet bestanden, men en tror nå at tiltak i terrenget, samt det  at konkurrerende planter lukes bort, gjør at Sibirstjerna er reddet  for framtida.

The Aster Sibiricus, Siberian Aster, has one of its two habitats in Western Europe situated at Sakrisvollen, on the sandy  beach of lake Aursunden, near Roros, Norway.

This community of Asters, a plant that can reach the height of app. 3 - 5 inches, once was down to 4 miserable specimens. Jorunn Sakrisvoll, who maintains, and also owns, the habitat, saved the plants, and also saw to that the habitat again was to bloom, by carefully nursing the area and the plants. She now has the job as caretaker of the habitat, and the number of plants now has  increased to a couple of thousands.

The Aursund is a regulated lake, which means the waterlevel varies. Arrangement are now made to keep the area free of damage from the lake, stormy winds, rough sea or other climatic threats. The area is preserved as specially  valuable and vulnerable nature, and staying in the area is restricted.
